Promido HQ

August 31st, 2007 by Stephen

Promido LogoPromido Internet GmbH is a company that does several things. One facet of their business is web development for clients. They have worked on several popular German sites, such as happypapa.de (a social network for dads), wamadu.de (a microblogging platform), and latengo.de (kind of an online database with social-networking features). The company is also working on some personal projects for the future, but has not released anything about them publicly.

Their offices are located in Butzbach, Germany, which is near Frankfurt. Currently, Promido has around 10 employees working out of the space seen below.

New Gallery Tutorial

August 31st, 2007 by Stephen

I wanted to give a quick explanation of all of the features of the gallery system we just installed here. If you were wondering what script it uses, it is called Highslide. I use a wordpress plugin to implement it, which is called WP-Highslide.

Features:

  • Click to enlarge - Yeah, this is pretty self explanatory, but I figure that I should mention it anyway.
  • Left/Right Arrow Key Navigation - Once you enlarge a thumbnail, you do not have to click anymore. You can simply use the arrow keys to enlarge the next/previous image. This also minimizes the image you were looking at.
  • Moveable Images - I really don’t know why you might want to do this, but you can. Just click and drag an image once it is enlarged anywhere in the browser window.

Try It Out:

New Gallery Feedback?

August 30th, 2007 by Stephen

I just added a new type of gallery to the site, which can be viewed here.  I am pretty confident that it will be a welcomed change as it really cleans up the look of the post, while keeping the same basic functionality of clicking on thumbnails and having a large version appear.

Please let me know what you think.

My tour of Timebridge HQ

August 30th, 2007 by Stephen

timebridge_logo.jpgTimebridge is a scheduling manager that makes it much easier to schedule meetings. It’s features allow you to automatically confirm and update all attendees, find times to meet much faster, holds the time in your calendar and automatically updates when confirmed, and it also works across all time zones, companies, and calendaring systems. Simply put, the product makes it simple to exchange availability and schedule meetings based on connecting the calendar with that of your contact’s.

I had the opportunity to take a peek around their office and ask a few questions during my recent visit to San Francisco, so a special thanks to everyone at Timebridge for their time.

Cisco UK

August 29th, 2007 by Stephen

Cisco LogoCisco, the company best known for their routers, is probably the largest company we have featured on here. In addition to their Cisco brand, the company also owns WebEx, Linksys, and Scientific Atlanta. With nearly 56,000 employees, it is no doubt that Cisco has some nice space for their employees to inhabit.

The images shown below are taken from the company’s UK office, and look to be mostly from the welcome area and lobby. If you’re wondering where the company’s name comes from, you will be interested to know that it is just a shortened ‘San Francisco‘. And the logo is a version of the Golden Gate Bridge. I hadn’t put all that together until just now, so you can tell that I am really tired, really stupid, or both.

I will also work on posting some pictures of the actual workspace the employees get their work done in.
