Gap Inc. HQ

February 6th, 2008 by Stephen

gap-logo.pngRegardless of what your first intuition might be regarding today’s images, remember that it isn’t Halloween in any of them. Gap just always has crazy decorations and dead guys laying around. Always. And streamers of course.

Gap is located in the San Francisco area, which seems to the the hub of office space these days. One of the things you’ll definitely notice about this office is its use of cubicles.

Just out of curiosity, what is everyone’s thought on cubicles?

Definitely not a fan of cubicles. Twitter offices are more my style (http://www.officesnapshots.com/category/twitter/). Cubicles, even half, squelch ideas and teamwork and is the epitome of a corporate work environment. Good post though for sure. They are definitely not as bad as most cubicles.

I was a hater of cubicles. Our new office is an open layout, and it’s starting to feel like nobody has their own space. Everybody talks “through” your desk to the next person - and it’s constantly loud.

We’re looking for some nice desk dividers, but are desperately trying to find some reasonably priced ones that aren’t a “cubicle system” that requires sales reps. They don’t seem to be in existence.

    Anybody find anything really cool?

I’m also against cubicles. I think that they are blocking the information flow and they don’t actually give you quiet work environment either.

I’d prefer something like seen in Jaiku offices where people can work on quiet rooms but office would still have very open feeling to it because of the glass walls.

I’ve never worked in a cubicle, but I did work in an open plan office in which cubicle-esque dividers were later put up between the two main rows of desks. Everyone hated them!

@Tommi L - I’m all for Jaiku style offices, they looked ace.

Okay… I really want to see some pics of where they teach people how to fold the clothes…
