Back to Regular Posting Tomorrow

March 31st, 2008 by Stephen

Sorry for the hiatus for the last few days.  I was on the road for the first few with no great way of posting, then was moving into a new house all weekend and didn’t have time.

I hope you all have a great day!

Riya Offices

March 26th, 2008 by Jose

riya logoIf you’re like me (in this very specific way), you haven’t heard of Riya. Well, actually, now I have, so why don’t I spill the beans. In a word, Riya is a search engine (don’t roll your eyes). Unlike your run-of-the-mill search engine (I’m looking at you, Google), Riya searches visually, and matches things based on similar visual characteristics. The search matches not only products and the like, but actually recognizes faces in your pictures, ostensibly making it much easier to sort them and search through them.

Riya’s offices are located in San Mateo, CA. The inside looks like a cubicle farm, but they do have an X-Box hooked up to a flat-screen TV. And a bar. And a nice pond outside, for those hot Silicon Valley days. Overall, Riya gets the OS seal of approval.

Think you might want to work at Riya? Look for something here.

Travelocity NY Office

March 25th, 2008 by Stephen

logo1.gifWe’ve featured other travel sites here before (Orbitz, nix-wie-weg), but none that are quite an ‘gnome’y as Travelocity. No the office isn’t totally gnomed out, though there is one peeping creepily at the turtles.

For starters, I love the view of from this office. A great, high-up view which is really important for a site like Travelocity because they need to be able to see everywhere in the world with a pair of binoculars for reservations’ sake. For finishers, it looks like they have a pretty nice office layout with plenty of space to get work done.

Heading to Vegas and San Fran

March 25th, 2008 by Stephen

Just thought I’d let everyone know what I’m going to be up to the next few days. Right now I’m most likely on the road to Las Vegas on a quick whirlwind trip to Zappos.com for a tour of their offices/facilities. I had planned on spending a little more time out there, but I forgot this last weekend was Easter weekend.

On Wednesday, I’m flying up to San Francisco to tour Digg. (Cooper wins)

SECRET CONTEST! $25 in Grooveshark giftcards to the first person to guess what company should be filled in the blank.

Yahoo! - Bangalore Offices

March 21st, 2008 by Stephen

As we all know, Yahoo! is an international company. I always find it interesting to see how employees of large companies are treated in other countries, so if you share the same curiosity, you are in luck.

This office is located in Bangalore, India and looks just about the same as any other Yahoo office. The one difference being the largess stacks of purple beanbag chairs stacked around the pool table. I’m no expert analyst, but I’d say that Yahoo would have spent all $44.6 billion from Microsoft on beanbags.
