The Digg.com Tour – Office Snapshots

Getting recent pictures of Digg has been something of a phantom for us at Office Snapshots. We had previously posted some shots of the office under construction, but nothing of the finished product. I had been attempting to tour the company for quite some time with no luck, but everything fell into place last month as I was able to spend some time at Digg headquarters snapping some shots for all of you.
The office itself is located in San Francisco and is really designed quite nicely. They just recently expanded from the third floor to some additional space on the second floor, which at this time does not see much use. As with my other recent office visits, everyone was super friendly. It is always a little awkward at first, especially when most people have no idea who I am, or why I am taking pictures around their office. Well, enough banter, lets get onto the pictures.

Wow…. that office looks like it would suck the inspiration and joy out of anybody. I work in a giant portakabin, and it seems light and airy and fresh compared some of those pictures.

They got ok snacks and stuff but where they go to smoke joints at lunch? If they need another guy to sit around all day clicking on digg things let me know I am available. I do it all day anyway. I could be pro level hire in.

I have to admit, even though Digg is awesome, and I’d love to work there, yet again we see an office where having an actual office with a door and a desk is where it’s at. Those cubicles leave a LOT to be desired.
Notice how many people hunch over their laptops even though they have huge external screens? Notice the cubes with the opening in the direct back that are kind of tapered to that exit? No privacy, no way to configure your desk so people walking up who need to talk to you don’t startle and inturrupt you. All in all? Awesome company, but the office and cubicle layout needs a little work, I think, even though the furniture they chose is swank.

What a nice and pleasant looking work environment. I work in a brick warehouse with no windows and pale yellowish incandescent light bulbs for lighting that makes me hold my head and cry.

I manage an office cleaning service http://www.greatjanitor.com and I see a lot of offices. I think it looks cool. It looks a little bit like they went over board on the IKEA stuff though.
