MySpace Office

You know what MySpace is. To many, it’s the reason for living, and to millions of others, it’s a blight on the Internet. We’ll reserve judgment, but we will say that these offices aren’t too shabby. Although the unfortunate souls who got stuck in a cubicle might disagree.

You might have seen these pictures of MySpace’s Beverly Hills offices before (they were featured on Robert Scoble’s blog a couple of months ago). Or maybe you haven’t. Because you, loyal reader, do not go to Scobleizer to see pictures of your favorite offices. While Mr. Scoble may know a thing or two about ‘puters, we know almost as many (0-1) things about offices.

Office Snapshots Tours Zappos HQ

Every so often I have the opportunity to visit one of the companies we write about on Office Snapshots to get a real-life visit instead of one of the virtual variety. Well, the latest of these visits was to Zappos HQ in Henderson, Nevada. Special thanks to Alex Kirmse at Zappos for arranging it and giving the tour.

If you haven’t ever heard of Zappos, odds are that you don’t have feet. It is (probably) the world’s largest shoe retailer, carrying almost one hundred thousand million trillion different brands of shoe. Well, maybe not that many, but close.

As far as their office is concerned, it contains somewhere around 700 employees in two different buildings (get a job there). One thing that you are sure to notice is that creativity and expression are large parts of the company culture. This is seen through each employee’s cubicle and each department’s conference room, which they design for themselves. Everyone from every department was super friendly making the experience extra enjoyable.

BiteClub Office

BiteClub is a new social network made for people who love food. So if you just “like” food, you should look elsewhere. Try MySpace or something.

BiteClub’s office is located in Sacramento, and it’s pretty small, because only two people work on-site. It’s quite hip; it looks like a converted art gallery.

My favorite thing about the office is the alcohol shrine to female rockers. A holdover from the aforementioned art gallery? Perhaps. I spy (with my little eye…) Blondie, Nikka Costa, The Donnas, and Bjork. If you spot some more, leave ‘em in the comments!

Humanized Office

Humanized is a small but really neat software company that is an expert in usability. They have a few products with some really cool ideas, but their most interesting of all might be a physical product: bloxes. They’re like Legos for grown-ups.

Our pictures of their office in Chicago show us the bloxes in action, as lemonade stands and soap boxes. The brick walls and hardwood floors really class the place up. And they have a fish! Why would any office not have a fish?

Justin.tv New Headquarters

So, it’s April Fools’ Day and I had to really hold myself back from posting that we had been acquired by some larger company. Thank goodness for self control. Now onto the post!

We’ve written about Justin.tv before, but it seems that they have expanded a bit from their previous office (apartment). The space is pretty clean and modern looking with enough space for everyone to work, while leaving enough room for the essentials like a projected Wii and NBA Jam Arcade.
