Social networks aren’t just for Spambots and perverts. Thanks to LearnHub, we can now add students and teachers to that exclusive list.
More seriously, though, Learnhub is a platform that allows teachers and students to create communities around specific subjects. If you have something to teach, it’s for you. If you feel like learning, lucky you, you can do that too.
LearnHub’s office is located in Toronto. It’s got hardwood floors, brick walls, and an open layout, so obviously it’s great. On a side note, if I were a VC, I would base my investment decisions entirely on what the office space looked like. So, who wants to give me money to start a fund?

At The Institute for the Future, everyone drives a DeLorean to work. No, that isn’t true. But it is true that they are a non-profit research group that helps identify trends and provides insight for how society and the marketplace will be transformed. business strategy, design process, innovation, and social dilemmas… You name it, their able brains are on it. Plus, they’ve been doing it for 40 years, so you can be sure they’re pretty good at it.
Their office in Palo Alto, California doesn’t seem all that futuristic, but it does seem conducive to thinking about the future. Fake palm trees, good lighting, and lava lamps: how could you not put your thinking cap on? I’ve had several epiphanies just looking at the pictures.

If you haven’t used Meebo yet, and you love talking with your friends and/or enemies online, then you should check them out. Meebo allows it’s users to connect with any IM network id, video chat, group chat, and has recently began to power community chat on sites throughout the web. Learn more here.
Meebo is another great company that I was able to visit during my last visit to the bay area. We previously showed their space while it was under construction a while back, and my has the company grown. Examining the differences, the company could possibly need a new space soon.
Each employee has a hefty amount of screen real estate, which I assume is for the hundreds of chat windows they all have open at all times. While Meebo has a good amount of fun-making equipment, they also have a lot of beer in their fridge. If I were voting on my favorite office innovation of all time, I’d definitely vote for Meebo’s paper-ream monitor stands. Lastly, I’d like to thank the Meebo crew for letting me creepily lurk around the office to take pictures.

As you all know, I made a slight mistake on the location of the Twitter office during my SF visit, which moved to a new location a couple months ago. While I wasn’t able to drop by and snap picture on my own, I was able to acquire a few from the awesome people at Twitter (Thanks Biz and Caroline!).
This office space is literally around the corner and down the street from the old office, but really has an entire different feel to it. First off, instead of being long and multi-level, the new space is much more spacious, light, and open, with an amazing view of the city. I think my favorite feature is James the green buck, whose commanding stature and magical smile fill the office with an aura of joy.
