Parliament Design’s Office

January 18th, 2010 by Stephen

When it comes to your place of work, the place where you spend a good majority of your day, for years on end, it is important that that space is both usable and attractive. For obvious reasons, an office that is difficult to work in will lower your effectiveness at your job. But also, an unattractive space that you don’t like going to could have the same effect.

Parliament Design‘s office in Portland, Oregon has to be one of the best examples of usability and design coming together in an office. The space is simply gorgeous, with elegant wood throughout the office, and enough beautifully made custom furniture to wonder why the company doesn’t specialize in that too. The company uses the space to design everything from print materials to retail packaging to websites and animation.

The amount of care and detail around the office is what is really breathtaking. Real firewood, cabinet doors made from old crates, tables made from old barns, and real street signs from Brooklyn. The lighting is fantastic, and the mixture of colors with the cement and wood really make a nice combination. And don’t forget that this is the first office we’ve seen with a bear skin rug.
