After three years and somewhere near 400 company offices posted, I thought it was about time to have a fresh look on Office Snapshots. So here it is, and below are a few of the things that are different. And below that are a few things that will hopefully be coming soon.
New
A New Look
The original template was pretty bland and looked like a history teacher with no web design background threw it together last minute. The new look is much cleaner looking and a bit more professional. Hopefully now someone will take us seriously.
Quick Facts
This site is about office design, and hopefully a useful one. I through together a section located at the top right of posts that will show a few quick facts about the companies when that information is available such as Company Name, Business Sector, # of Employees, Location, Website, and Office Layout. The idea is to quickly give the reader a bit of information about the space, with a more full description in the write-up.
Improved Gallery Creation
Posting is tedious when you have to resize images, create thumbnails, manually build galleries, upload via ftp, then add the code to posts. So we had a plugin developed that allows us to upload the images in WordPress that builds Highslide galleries automatically for our posts. I don’t think readers will notice anything except more posts due to our time savings.
Search
I’m not sure when, but somewhere along the line I removed a search box from the site. It is back and ready for action.

Data Search
We have collected a lot of data about offices, but it basically just sits around in posts and is difficult to find. I’m slowly working on creating a searchable database so that if you’re interested in finding companies with 50-100 employees, you’ll be able to. Or if you don’t want to look at offices with cubicles, you can search for only ones with an open layout.
New Content Types
Pretty soon we will be adding some more content into the fold. I have previously mentioned home offices, but we will also be adding office products/furniture as well. This will be a separate from the regular office pictures though. Look for more posts on office design as well.
