Help Carrot Creative #3 – Reception/Common Areas/Kitchen

We’ve been trying to help out Carrot Creative with some great ideas for their new office space this week. We began with an introduction that garnered quite a few great ideas, then we had a post on workstations that also brought a few ideas to the table. Today’s post will be focused on the reception, Common, and Kitchen areas of the office.

Some details to help guide today’s brainstorm session:
-Kitchen should be close to employee lounge/game/hang/library room
-Sink, dishwasher and obviously a Keurig
-Room adjacent to entrance will probably remain a study lounge/library
-Hoping for telephone booth-like “Quiet Rooms”

The common areas an kitchen should be really nice. Make your employees feel comfortable there. Productivity goes way up when the workers actually like the work space and don’t have to pop out just to grab a snack. Couches in the common areas are a plus. Not so that people can slack off, but so they can get a break from sitting upright in a chair at their desk/workstation.
The reception should be a very well lite and friendly space. You don’t want the first room that everybody walks through to be “depressing”. If you can, make it fun.

This is a good things that you tend to help to make this spaces more functional and nonetheless a better one. I like the idea of transforming this spaces to a new one because I have to say that there is nothing extraordinary with it. Keep up the good work and good luck to the outcome. More power.

Please don’t be afraid to experiment with adding some of your own herbs and spices while cooking. But, be careful; go slowly with that at first. When you’re an old hand you’ll be throwing in this and that and the other. I hope you enjoy the recipes. Good cooking luck.
