When it comes to your place of work, the place where you spend a good majority of your day, for years on end, it is important that that space is both usable and attractive. For obvious reasons, an office that is difficult to work in will lower your effectiveness at your job. But also, an unattractive space that you don’t like going to could have the same effect.

Parliament Design’s office in Portland, Oregon has to be one of the best examples of usability and design coming together in an office. The space is simply gorgeous, with elegant wood throughout the office, and enough beautifully made custom furniture to wonder why the company doesn’t specialize in that too. The company uses the space to design everything from print materials to retail packaging to websites and animation.
The amount of care and detail around the office is what is really breathtaking. Real firewood, cabinet doors made from old crates, tables made from old barns, and real street signs from Brooklyn. The lighting is fantastic, and the mixture of colors with the cement and wood really make a nice combination. And don’t forget that this is the first office we’ve seen with a bear skin rug.

I personally had never heard of Jack Morton, but apparently they are kind of a big deal. They are a experiential marketing firm, meaning that they specialize in planning, designing, and executing campaigns and events that you (you guessed it) experience. Their clients include many of the very biggest brands in the world, including HP, GM, MTV, IBM, and a bunch of non-acronymed names, too. Among other impressive things, they designed that incredibly flashy ESPN SportsCenter desk and the Opening Ceremonies at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
The office itself is located in New York City, and it looks a lot like you might imagine: light, modern, and colorful. They do have a few slightly odd, kinda corny elements (such as the diner menu, the inflatable pool, and the basketball court table) but their trophy room is so great that I think we can forgive them.

Designkitchen is a digital branding agency out of Chicago, Illinois that works with companies in an effort to improve brand recognition through various mediums. They’ve worked with companies like Bally’s, Motorola, and Burger King. So the next time you want to eat a burger, then work off those calories, and then tell someone about it, you can blame (or thank) Designkitchen.
Their office has a nice variety of colors and textures that really give it an elegant feel. They’ve got plenty of conference space, great lamps, and great chairs. What’s not to like? I think my favorite thing is the kitchen with an oven. Usually employee areas sport a microwave, but it’d sure be nice to bake up some treats at work.

Sure, we post quite a few design and creativity company offices here, but only a handful of those are just breath-taking a memorable. Some can be bland, others can be crowded, and still others can be inspiring and memorable. Nothing Amsterdam’s offices surely fit into the last category.
You see, their space is made entirely from cardboard. Yes. Cardboard. It was designed by Alrik Koudenburg and Joost van Bleiswijk. While, I don’t have any idea about what working there is like, the visual of the space is simply amazing.
