“The alsoKNOWNas concept is built around bringing together a small collective of talented designers and creative types in a one-of-a-kind workspace that encourages creativity, collaboration, ongoing learning. The AKA studio space is a foundation … a meeting place, a place to share ideas and get feedback, a place to grow your creative perspective and hang out with likeminded
people and ultimately a place that people want to come to work everyday and do amazing work.”

As far we’re concerned, the office looks great with its wooden floors and brick walls. Elegant track lighting spans the length of the space, which highlights the workspaces and wall art wonderfully. The office’s furniture has a very eclectic look. Some Ikea, some old chairs, Eames-style leather seating, a great wooden meeting table, and some good-looking workstation desks. AKA is located in Vancouver, BC.

If you’ve ever been wondering why whiteboard markers have gone up in price lately, it’s because Engine Digital has a monopoly on the world’s supply for their window brainstorming sessions. They also are a creative company that works with companies on branding from their Vancouver, BC offices.

Having worked with the likes of Nintendo, Universal, and HSBC, it’s no wonder this company has a great looking space that combines their brand with a nice design. Portions of the office are wide open, with employees sharing the benefits of collaboration, while other areas offer necessary privacy and solitude. Well-lit, the office enjoys a bright atmosphere with their bright walls and ceiling.

Mozilla Messaging Office

We’re doing something new today. We’re looking at a company’s move from one office to another, so you get to see two different offices. That’s twice as many as normal. Get excited! Anyways, Mozilla Messaging, purveyors of the very popular and useful Thunderbird email client, is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Just like the Olympics I am currently watching!

Mozilla Messaging’s first office was in a beautiful old-fashioned building with great views of downtown Vancouver. I personally like it a little better than their new office, an artsier, more open space in a warehouse-style office building. Also, they seem to share an office with awesome sounding “Boomchains.” I don’t know what that is, so you should leave your best guess in the comments.

Burnkit Studio

Design studios are fast becoming my favorite type of space to cover because companies like Burnkit have unbelievable workspaces. Burnkit is a design studio that doesn’t just stick to one medium, they’ll create websites, do branding, create short films, or even invent something that will blow everyone’s mind on your behalf.

The first thing you’re sure to notice about the space is their stack of half-size shipping crates. While I can only speculate as to what is in them, I think they are a creative way to set yourself apart from other companies. This studio is a lot different than anything I’ve seen before with it’s expansive space and workbench style workstations. Pretty neat if you ask me.

Raincity Studios HQ

Raincity Studios is a creative web development and design team based out of Vancouver, BC. They are a high respected group that has done work for many big names including Kelly Clarkson, Warner Bros., Ask a Ninja, and even Ozzy Osbourne. It’s pretty obvious that this isn’t just some garage design team.

Alongside their impressive portfolio, RCS has offices to match. While they haven’t spent millions on the latest office fashion doodads, it still looks great, while offering what looks to be a very cozy, efficient atmosphere. If I knew anything about web design, I would definitely want to work here.
