Google’s New Office – Stockholm, Sweden

December 24th, 2009 by Stephen

Merry Christmas Eve! Today, we are lucky enough to be bringing something brand new to the internet. Pictures from inside of Google’s newest office space in Stockholm, Sweden. This new space was designed by Swedish Architecture firm, Camenzind Evolution, the designers of the now famous Google Zurich Office. See ALL Google offices here.

When beginning to design the office, it was learned that the employees wished to maintain a small-company atmosphere and leave a Swedish fingerprint on the space, all while combining several Swedish offices into a centralized location for engineers and the marketing and sales divisions.

The office is filled with everything we know to be Google, though with a bit less of the very extravagant elements the Zurich space contained. The conference rooms are themed with famous Swedish inventors like Linne, Ericsson, Nobel, and Bohlin. Several of the other rooms have unique themes as well. Google just seems like a fun company to work for, and this office doesn’t change that belief in the slightest. Plenty of places to play on different games, a great looking kitchen area, and of course many places to lounge make this Google office one of the best. And naturally, this branch of Google pays employees with meatballs.

Tonium Office

March 18th, 2008 by Jose

tonium-logo.jpgSweden is fantastic. I love their meatballs, their inexpensive yet stylish furniture, their catchy and introspective pop music (I’m not talking about ABBA), and now, their music mixing technology. Tonium is the company behind the aptly named Pacemaker, a PSP-sized music player that also serves as a DJ system. It’s pretty new, as it’s not even for sale yet, but it seems pretty great.

Also great is their office in Stockholm. Nice views, comfortable chairs, warm lighting, and turntables the size of 100 Pacemakers. Also, there’s a cat on the wall, and he only speaks Japanese(?).

Trig HQ

January 29th, 2008 by Jose

Trig LogoTrig is social network. And it is really nice. But it’s more than just a pretty face; you can do almost anything you can do on any other community, plus neat things like “trig”ing objects that you like, and tagging anything you see. It’s still in beta (which might not mean much nowadays), but it seems pretty well put together.

Their office happens to be in sunny Stockholm, Sweden, and it is so nice, it puts their website to shame. Glass conference rooms! X-box 360! Neon bar! Waterfront views! How do they afford it? They charge you for that delicious food.

Stixy Offices

September 18th, 2007 by Stephen

Stixy LogoStixy is a new webservice that you have probably never heard of, but that doesn’t make them any less worthy of being featured on Office Snapshots. Their service provides users with a collaborative workspace that is both fun and easy to use. You can currently share and edit to-dos, documents, photos, and send notes back and forth. Just think of it as an online, sharable bulletin board.

What makes their office unique is that the two developers live around the world from each other and work from their homes. Anders, whose office setup is shown first, is in Mill Valley, California. Jonas’, shown second, is located in Karlshamn, Sweden. This will undoubtedly continue to be a growing trend among developing businesses because it is not always easy or cost-effective to relocate around the world.

Skype Offices – Stockholm

September 6th, 2007 by Stephen

Skype LogoSkype is best known for their easy-to-use peer-to-peer telephony client. They are clearly the leader in the field with a whopping ~215 million registered users. The company was purchased by Ebay in 2005 for $2.6 billion. Recently, the service made news when it was unavailable for use for about two days. The outage occurred when Microsoft’s Windows OS caused the simultaneous reboot of millions of computers due to a recently installed software patch. When millions of computers attempted to connect to Skype, it was quite a bit more strain that the servers could handle.

Their offices are pretty slick, and are of course, located in the same building as the Ebay offices we posted a couple days ago. One of my favorite elements of the office is the wall of clocks, which is made extra special by the addition of cuckoo clocks.
