For those of you that haven’t heard of TOMS Shoes, it is a pretty neat business run out of Santa Monica, California. They sell shoes that people like. For each pair of shoes someone buys, they donate a pair to someone in need in the world. the company has grown quite large over the last couple years and looks to only grow larger.
The TOMS office isn’t a typical workplace by any means. As you can see in the video, it is basically a combination office/warehouse that has a collection of interns and employees scattered about. Instead of cubicles, they just hung canvas sheets from the ceiling to give some privacy. The environment seems pretty laid back, but you can’t really complain when the business started out of the guys apartment and has been able to give away over 140,000 pairs of shoes.
The world would be a pretty dreary place without Activision. Imagine, if you will, a life without Pitfall!, without Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, and without Guitar Hero. That is bleak world, my friends, and not one I would want to be a part of. So, before I take my own life, let us return to a time and place where we do our darndest to avoid pits, where anyone can skate like Tony Hawk, and where even 5 year olds can shred like Slash.
Activision’s office in Santa Monica is just what you’d expect from a major video game publishing company, what with their motion capture studio, their graffiti walls, and their numerous skateboards and guitars. The best part, though, is definitely the map of LA on the wall of the conference room. I heard that the map is so accurate, it’s actually used as the official LA map on Google Maps. It’s true, I checked on Snopes and everything.

For those of us that know what cars are, Edmunds is here for you. Whether you’re buying a car, selling a truck, trying to network with other auto enthusiasts, or looking for the latest auto industry news, they’ve got something for you. The company was founded in 1966 and is still going strong. They are located in Santa Monica, CA, which is one of the more popular places to run a business in the Los Angeles area.
Google seems to be near the list of everybody’s list of top companies to work at. And it’s no wonder, because their offices seem to always be the best looking, and seemingly most fun. With a large portion of society working at jobs they don’t like, Google has become one of the hottest places to be employed.
This particular office is just a few blocks from the beach in Santa Monica, CA. While it may not be anywhere near the size of the Google mothership in Mountainview, it still has most of the amenities that come with working for the company.

A little while back, we posted some images taken at the Mahalo office during the Joystiq meetup. Those didn’t quench my thirst for a look inside their offices, so I went ahead and set a tour up. Luckily for me, Mahalo is one of the few companies located somewhat near my house.
