Here is a quick video tour of Google’s Chicago office space. As you can see it has most everything other Google offices have like free food, live search tvs, bright colors, and a creative team-friendly atmosphere.
Designkitchen is a digital branding agency out of Chicago, Illinois that works with companies in an effort to improve brand recognition through various mediums. They’ve worked with companies like Bally’s, Motorola, and Burger King. So the next time you want to eat a burger, then work off those calories, and then tell someone about it, you can blame (or thank) Designkitchen.
Their office has a nice variety of colors and textures that really give it an elegant feel. They’ve got plenty of conference space, great lamps, and great chairs. What’s not to like? I think my favorite thing is the kitchen with an oven. Usually employee areas sport a microwave, but it’d sure be nice to bake up some treats at work.

Chicago is pushing for the 2016 Olympics, but today, they get something even better: a company featured on Office Snapshots. And so we present to you the illustrious Hoffman York. Hoffman York (which also happens to have offices in Milwaukee) is a well-known advertising and PR agency that specializes in radio, television, and print–the stodgy but vital “old media.”
Their office is anything but stodgy, though. Their sleek, modern decor goes perfectly with their views of the Chicago skyline. They have a great kitchen chock-full of potato chips (but not for long…) and a very classy billiards room. The best part? Why it’s the giant lip couch, of course. Anything that reminds me of Rocky Horror Picture Show automatically gets Best in Show.
Last week we took a look at Gensler’s office in San Francisco. They have over thirty offices around the world, and this fine day we are checking out Gensler’s second office in America’s Second City.
As I mentioned last time (and why wouldn’t you remember every little thing that I write), Gensler is the world’s largest architecture firm. Their Chicago office is extremely interesting; I especially enjoy the way the old-fashioned (the exposed brick wall, the columns) mixes with the new-fangled (the Aeron chairs, the computers).
On a more serious note, I’ve always suspected that architects wear hard hats twenty four hours a day, and photo 7 confirms it. Boo-yah.
You know all about, salesforce.com, right? Of course you do. You may not know about Model Metrics, though, and that’s one thing I’m about to fix. Model Metrics is kinda like Salesforce.com’s little buddy: Batman to his Robin, Sonny to his Cher (if you will). Basically, Model Metrics builds applications on-demand to help companies get the most out of their CRM system.
This office has surprising amounts of beer and arcade games. With the Newcastle, Fat Tire, and Galaga flowing so freely, I would guess it’s pretty much impossible to get anything done. I bet those computers are just for show, and this is actually just a sports bar.
