Clockwork Active Media Offices

Clocks are pretty important. They tell time, and their towers can be used to harness lightning for Time Travel. So needless to say, a company called Clockwork Active Media that designs websites, builds web apps, works with social media is basically the business version of Doc Brown. Don’t worry about my logic; it is sound.

The company’s office is located in an old, renovated service station in Minneapolis, MN. which brings some really great history and character with it. The exterior sports a large version of the companies logo, and keeps the original flavor of the building alive and well. Clockwork’s space is 10,000 square feet and is filled with conference spaces, private offices, a great lunchroom (do I see beer on tap?), and a large bullpen space. The entire office is well-lit, with those large service bay doors bringing in a good amount of sunlight.

Great space, and its wonderful that an old building like this has found new use as opposed to just being torn down.

Blu Dot Headquarters – Minneapolis

If you haven’t been lucky enough to hear of Blu Dot, today is your lucky day. The company designs and sells some of the most beautiful modern furniture available. Their new headquarters is locates in small warehouse space, and has a very open feel to it. The space is furnished with many of their own products, making it not only their office but showroom as well.

The office itself is very bright from a combination of natural light and light wall color. One of my favorite features of the office are the miniature models of their furniture on the large center shelving units. Each workstation is equipped with plenty of shelving, workspace, and privacy, though not enough to feel closed off. The conference space is very large, though rather long, which might make collaboration and discussion difficult if the whole team were assembled. However, if I worked there, I’d go for a long lunch and ask the ceramic animals to fill me in on the details.

Mono’s Breathtaking Office

In a world in which most people hate their jobs and hate going to work, a well designed workplace and its atmosphere can really change things. Mono, a Minneapolis-based advertising agency gives us an example of an office that puts employees first, which in-turn makes them work more efficiently and effectively for their clients. Some of which include Herman Miller, Apple, USA Networks, NBA tv, and General Mills.

What really makes this office spectacular is that it is really an advertisement for Mono. When clients stop by, they are undoubtedly drawn into the energy that the design gives. Not only is the place eye-catching, but it is well thought out. The space isn’t just a collection of cool stuff to appease employees and to trick them into working. Instead it is a place where employees can come and thrive in what they do.

Designer Charlie Lazor of Flatpak house and Lazor Office collaborated with agency co-founder Chris Lange to transform the vacant space into its current state. The features of the office are quite impressive from their Herman Miller Embody seating, to the large collaboration areas throughout the office. Ping-pong, work pods, a good-sized design library, and a fantastic kitchen are all wonderful additions. Enjoy!

Walker Art Center Office

The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota is one of the most important art organizations in the Midwest. It is renowned world-wide for its dedication to modern art and to their programs that foster audience engagement. Although it was established in 1927, it wasn’t until the middle of the 20th century that the museum started catching people’s attention, adding important pieces by Picasso, Giacometti, Moore, and many others to its collection.

One would hope that a major art organization’s staff offices would be accordingly pleasing, and luckily, the Walker doesn’t disappoint. The colors are bright without being gaudy, the lines are clean without being dull, and furniture is functional without being boring. Plus, the art on the walls doesn’t disappoint. A very fine job, Walker Art Center.

Provell, Inc. Office

Minnesota is frozen tundra this time of year*, but we’re taking you there today anyway. To Minneapolis, to be exact, to a company known as Provell, Inc. Provell is a membership marketing company that’s been around since the mid 80s, providing marketing programs to corporate clients around the country.

As you can see, Minnesota isn’t always a frozen tundra. In fact, it was quite nice on the day these pics were taken, making for some very dramatic photos. Everything is so clean and… sumptuous. Nothing says class like marble and wood and leather. It may not be too creative or unique, but it’s refined.
