The NetCircle Office

September 29th, 2009 by Jose

netcircle logoThe NetCircle claims to have “the best office in the world”. Laughable, right? Wrong. This office is amazing. We’ve seen a whole lot of offices, and this one might really be the best one in the world. Let’s start off with the company, though: The Netcircle specializes in building and growing social communities, handling everything from the development and design to the marketing and managing.

The office, situated in a gorgeous loft in Shanghai, China, and it’s home to 40 of the happiest employees in the world. The top floor looks like the home of Cyberdyne Systems, while the first floor looks like an art gallery. The chandeliers add a lot of character without being over the top, and bright blue lights even keep the stairs from being boring. The best part is probably the garden overlooking the Huangpu River. With its unique benches and beautiful views of downtown Shanghai, it’s a great way to get away from work for a bit. Not that you’d want to if you worked here.

Hyves.net Office

August 20th, 2009 by Jose

hyves-logoIt may seem like everyone uses Facebook, but they don’t. Some people, in fact, use social networking sites that aren’t Facebook. Shocking, I know. Here’s a good one, though: it’s called Hyves.net, and it’s very popular in the Netherlands, with over 8.5 million users (that’s over half the population!).

And how great is their office? SO great. The ridiculously bright colors make it look like something out of a storybook or an acid trip, but there’s just enough of the neutral colors so that it doesn’t make me feel uncomfortable. They have pretty views of central Amsterdam from their many windows, and look, even their doors are interesting. The many murals do a great job of giving each room its own distinct personality. All in all, a superb office. Well done, Hyves.net.

The New Facebook Office

August 13th, 2009 by Stephen

In the past, we’ve posted several times about Facebook’s office space, but nothing quite like today’s post. Facebook recently moved their offices out of several smaller locations spread throughout Palo Alto, CA and into one central, 150,000-square-foot building that used to house Agilent Technologies. Many of the building’s original features either remain or have been repurposed for Facebook’s use.

o + aThe space was designed by studio o+a who took time to interview employees to see what they wanted and what would make their work experience better and more productive. Employees collaborated with designers throughout the entire process to ensure the best product possible. Because of the differing departmental needs, small neighborhoods within the building were created giving each department its own unique flavor and vibe.

The company has remained committed to providing free gourmet meals, snacks, and drinks in micro-kitchens located throughout the building. In order to keep the company agile and fresh, employees are encouraged to write on walls, add artwork, and move furniture as they see fit. If I worked there, I’d move my furniture into Mark Zuckerberg’s offices and then challenge him to a game of ping-pong or basketball on the company tables and court.

Youmeo Office

May 12th, 2009 by Jose

Youmeo has been featured here on Office Snapshots once before, but Steve put that one up, so you know it wasn’t that great. Joking! It was great. And so are these new pictures of Youmeo’s very attractive office in London, England.

Youmeo is a utility for those us that want to social network in every possible manner but don’t have the time or patience to do it the hard way. Instead of going to half a dozen websites just to tell your Internet friends that you are going to In n Out, you can update Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, and more at the same time. Plus, Youmeo brings all of the updates to you in one place as well. Interested? Too bad, it’s still in closed beta. Feel free to sign up for an invite, though.

Wealink Office

October 15th, 2008 by Jose

link to wealinkToday we’re going aaaaaaall the way to Shanghai to take a look at China’s Wealink. Wealink is like LinkedIn, but with all sorts of crazy squiggles all over the page. I also think the name looks like Weaklink, which would be an awful name for a website.

The office itself looks like a pretty standard startup office, aside from the Canadian Ice Wine (???) and the sweet views of downtown Shanghai. And, in case you’ve ever wondered whether they have IKEAs in China (and I really have wondered), 16 or so Vika Amon tables say they do.
